Jordan urges inte'l community to address Israeli escalation against the Al-Aqsa

Amman, April 16 (Petra) — Minister of State for Media Affairs and Government Spokesperson, Mohammed Momani, on Wednesday, called on the UN Security Council and the international community to shoulder their responsibility and address the current Israeli escalation and attacks on the Al-Aqsa Mosque in occupied Jerusalem.

Momani said legal, humanitarian and moral duty makes imperative for the international community to take appropriate action to prevent Jewish extremists from breaking into the Al-Aqsa Mosque and inflaming the passions of Muslims all over the world; a thing which would destabilize the whole Middle East.

By supporting extremist movements to repeatedly storm the holy shrine, the Israeli government is a damaging its legal obligation contained in international conventions and bilateral treaties.

At least 25 Palestinians were injured Wednesday morning after Israeli soldiers stormed the yards of the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

Palestinian sources said that Israeli occupation forces fired tear gas canisters and stun grenades at dozens of Muslim worshippers in the holy compound.
