UN to set up Humanitarian Affairs office in Jordan


Amman, Oct. 21 (Petra) – Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Affairs Nasser Judeh and Executive Director of the UN Office for Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), John Ging, signed an agreement to set up an OCHA office in Jordan.




The agreement aims to coordinate humanitarian work with international and national agencies with the local office of the agency coordinating humanitarian aid in the region in the wake of wars and natural disasters. The task has been assigned to the OCHA through United Nations resolutions.




Ging acknowledged the importance of Jordan’s role in receiving Syrian refugees and providing services to them, stressing United Nations’ support for Jordan and its national plan to enable communities hosting Syrian refugees to deal with the impact of the crisis in order to continue performing its humanitarian role.
