PESHAWAR, Pakistan, Oct. 13 (UPI) --
A bomb that may have targeted members of a peace committee killed at least 15 people and injured 25 Saturday in a market in northwest Pakistan, officials said.
The explosion in Darra Adam Khel also destroyed about 20 shops, Dawn News reported.
A spokesman for the local Tehrik-i-Taliban group denied responsibility for the blast.
Mian Iftikhar Hussain, a spokesman for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial government, said the car bomb had been intended for members of an anti-Taliban peace committee.
The group is comprised of former Taliban fighters who now support the government, the BBC reported.
It wasn't immediately clear if members of the peace committee were among the casualties.
Darra Adam Khel is known for its many shops that make various types of weapons, which can be bought at local market stalls.
