Man saves neighbor girl from pit bull attack Share This: UPI 4/30/2013 8:10:03 PM LEBANON, N.H., April 30 (UPI) -- A New Hampshire man is being credited for saving the life of a 7-year-old neighbor attacked by two of her family's pit bulls. Adam Horr was outside Saturday when he heard the girl screaming for help. He ran through 75 yards of wooded area separating his home from his neighbors' property. When he emerged he saw Angel Sargent on the ground being mauled by two dogs as a third one circled the scene, the Portland (Maine) Press Herald said Monday. "It was really quite terrifying. I didn't have time to be scared," Horr said. "I started punching and kicking those dogs as best I could. They took me down twice." By taking on the animals and distracting them, Horr enabled Sargent to escape and call for help. Catherine Sargent, Angel's mother, is engaged to the dogs' owner, Rory Downs. The animals had been kept in a part of the yard fenced off from where Angel and two other children had been playing prior to the attack. The dogs jumped the fence to attack the girl. The family told police the animals had never before displayed violent tendencies. Angel Sargent was released from an area hospital and her mother said she is recovering. No charges have been filed.
