Rapper Jay-Z announces new album during cellphone commercial

NEW YORK, June 17 (UPI) --
New York hip-hop mogul Jay-Z has announced his new album "Magna Carta Holy Grail" is set for release July 4.

This marks the rapper's first album since "Watch the Throne," his 2011 collaboration with Kanye West.

EW.com said Jay-Z announced the release date for his latest project during a 3-minute Samsung cellphone commercial that aired during Game 5 of the NBA Finals Sunday night.

The first 1 million Samsung Galaxy users to download a special mobile application will get the album 72 hours early, the entertainment news website said.

"Pretty much the album is about this duality of how do you navigate your way through this whole thing -- through success, through failures -- and remain yourself," Jay-Z said.
