Amy Poehler to produce church comedy for NBC

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 20 (UPI) —

Amy Poehler will executive produce a new comedy for NBC.

The 43-year-old actress will co-produce alongside executive producer and writer Aisha Muharrar. Poehler and Muharrar previously collaborated on NBC series Parks and Recreation.

The new comedy uses a single-camera style, and centers on a young, agnostic woman who inherits a church. The program follows the woman as she integrates with the community’s headstrong characters.

Poehler has starred as Leslie Knope on Parks and Recreation since its debut in 2009. The series was renewed for a 13-episode, seventh and final season in March. The actress most recently executive produced a pilot for NBC comedy Old Soul, and will star alongside Tina Fey in The Nest in 2015.
