Richard Gere's 'Time Out of Mind' picked up by IFC Films

NEW YORK, Oct. 20 (UPI) —

Richard Gere drama Time Out of Mind will be distributed by IFC Films in the U.S.

The feature is directed by Oren Moverman, and stars Gere as a homeless man named George who attempts to reconnect with his daughter Maggie (Jena Malone) in New York City.

"Time Out of Mind is for me 10 years in the making and is certainly one of my most personal films," Gere said in a statement. "Oren and I can think of no better partner than IFC to support and embrace our film."

"Richard Gere gives a career-topping performance in this beautiful, moving and soulful film from Oren Moverman," IFC Films president Jonathan Sehring lauded.

Gere produced the movie alongside Lawrence Inglee, Caroline Kaplan and Edward Walson of Blackbird Films, Miranda Bailey of Cold Iron Pictures and Bill Pohlad of River Road Entertainment. Ben Vereen, Kyra Sedgwick and Steve Buscemi also star.

Time Out of Mind debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival in September, and screened at the Rome Film Festival on Sunday. The film will open in theaters in 2015.

Gere will next appear as American tourist Guy in The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel. The actor is also scheduled to star alongside Theo James and Dakota Fanning in Fanny.
