NEW YORK, Oct. 30 (UPI) —
A member of the SEAL team that killed Osama bin Laden who claims he pulled the trigger on the former al-Qaida leader will reveal his identity in an upcoming Fox News documentary.
"Revealing his identity and speaking out publicly for the first time, the Navy SEAL, also known as ‘The Shooter,’ will share his story of training to be a member of America’s elite fighting force and explain his involvement in Operation Neptune Spear, the mission that killed Bin Laden," the cable network said in a press release.
"Offering never before shared details, the presentation will include ‘The Shooter’s’ experience in confronting Bin Laden, his description of the terrorist leader’s final moments as well as what happened when he took his last breath. Additionally, viewers will be offered a behind-the-scenes look at the secret ceremony where he donated the shirt he was wearing during the mission to the National September 11 Memorial Museum in New York City."
"The shooter" in question is the same man profiled by Esquire in March 2013, whose account of bin Laden’s assassination has already been publicly disputed as "complete B-S" according to CNN.
Writing for special forces blog SOFREP, former SEAL Brandon Webb asserted "he wasn’t the point man that put the well placed rounds into UBL’s head that ended the terrorist leaders life."
"Sure he was there, and deserves credit but he wasn’t the man who shot UBL, and ended his life. And this is an important fact that must be clarified."
Set to air in two parts, The Man Who Killed Usama bin Laden will premiere on Nov. 11 and conclude Nov. 12.
