Texas Bill: Judges’ Judicial Bypass Rulings for Teen Abortions Will be Public

Under a bill by Texas State Representative Geanie W. Morrison (R- Victoria), co-authored by Rep. Ron Simmons (R-Carrollton), rulings by judges in judicial bypass cases will no longer be kept from the public. Such rulings would be included in a report by the Texas Office of Court Administration which is made public annually. The name of the minor involved would be kept anonymous.

Whistleblower Asks U.S. Supreme Court to Intervene Against Planned Parenthood

Attorneys from the American Center for Law and Justice (ACLJ), representing a whistleblower against Planned Parenthood in California, have petitioned the U.S. Supreme Court to allow their lawsuit against the organization to go ahead. The suit, in which former chief financial officer of the Los Angeles Planned Parenthood Victor Gonzalez claims that the organization defrauded the federal government of over $200 million by overcharging for medical services, has struggled to survive.

Texas Bill: Crime to Coerce Woman To Abort and Child Abuse to Coerce Pregnant Minor

The “Coerced Abortion Prevention Act” filed by two Texas lawmakers would make it a crime for any person to coerce a pregnant woman to have an abortion. The bill would also mandate that a physician report to law enforcement — and, where applicable, Child Protective Services — anyone who coerces a woman or pregnant minor into an abortion. It would be considered child abuse if a parent, conservator, or guardian coerced a minor to have an abortion.
