Army Pfc. Bowe Bergdahl broke his silence about leaving his base in Afghanistan to NPR’s popular “Serial” podcast. In it, he claims he deserted his unit “to highlight poor leadership” and rapidly realized he was “in over his head.”

Media Jump on El Chapo-ISIS Bandwagon Again

A blog about Mexican drug cartels reported on December 7 about a leaked encrypted email supposedly sent by notorious Sinaloa cartel kingpin Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzmán to prominent Islamic State (ISIS) leader Abu Bakr al Baghdadi. In the email, Guzmán allegedly threatens to retaliate against ISIS for destroying drug shipments and interfering in cartel business. Despite numerous mainstream media outlets reporting this “story” on December 10, the sole unverified source for this information is an unidentified Mexican blogger.

Maj. Jason Brezler is being kicked out of the military after more than 15 years of service for warning fellow Marines in 2012 that a Taliban-linked Afghan police commander working at their post in southern Afghanistan was corrupt and sexually abusing boys, the Washington Post recently reported.
