98 Cops Injured in Baltimore Riots

Baltimore police officials said 98 officers have been injured since riots broke out after the funeral of Freddie Gray. Thirteen of the officers had to be placed on medical leave, and 15 were relegated to light duty. Police Capt. Eric Kowalczyk said protesters had fired bricks, bottles, and chunks of cement at officers.

Report: Freddie Gray Had Head Injury Matching a Bolt Inside Police Van

An ABC news affiliate reported Thursday afternoon that the injuries which ultimately killed Freddie Gray took place inside a police van and not during his arrest. It remains unclear whether those injuries were the result of a failure to secure Gray with a seat belt or caused by some actions of the police officers involved.

Jerusalem Mayor Meets ‘Baltimore’ Protestors in Street

In an echo of protests this week in Baltimore, demonstrators in Jerusalem, Israel have taken to the streets to oppose police brutality against Ethiopian Israelis. The immediate trigger for the protest, which drew hundreds of people to the streets near Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s residence, was a surveillance video showing two policemen beating a black Israeli soldier in uniform. Jerusalem mayor Nir Barkat rushed to the scene to listen to the demonstrators’ concerns.
