Smugglers Changing Tactics in Laredo Sector of Texas Border

More than 130 pounds of marijuana was seized on Wednesday morning when U.S. Border Patrol agents from the Laredo South Sector discovered a vehicle leaving a known smuggling area along the Rio Grande River. The driver led agents on a short chase and crashed back into the river in what is described as a “splashdown” event. Breitbart Texas has learned this is a new technique for smugglers in the Laredo sector.

2 Tons of Marijuana Seized at Texas Inland Border Checkpoint

U.S. Border Patrol Agents discovered more than 4,000 pounds of marijuana in a tractor-trailer at the inland border checkpoint located on I-35 between San Antonio and Laredo. Agents were alerted to the possibility of drugs by a K-9 assigned to the checkpoint.

Bad Radio Coverage, Inadequate Training Hinder Border Patrol Operations and Agents’ Safety

A recent report by the Government Accountability Office (GAO) indicates spotty radio coverage and inadequate training are challenging the agency’s ability to secure the southwest border and negatively affect agent safety. Aside from a firearm, a handheld radio is a Border Patrol agent’s best friend. Often finding themselves in remote areas of the border with untold armed drug and human smugglers nearby, agents need to be able to communicate with each other quickly and clearly.

Border Patrol Agent: We are Punished for Reporting Illegal Alien Groups of More Than 20

WASHINGTON, DC — A U.S. Border Patrol agent from the Rio Grande Valley Sector in Texas told lawmakers today that his fellow agents are punished for reporting illegal alien groups of more than 20. “Agents who repeatedly report groups larger than 20 face retribution. Management will either take them out of the field and assign them to processing detainees at the station or assign them to a fixed position in low volume areas as punishment,” Border Patrol agent Chris Cabrera told a Senate panel. “Needless to say Agents got the message and now stay below this 20 person threshold no matter the actual size of the group.”

Border Patrol Agents Rescue Pregnant Woman and 36 Immigrants 80 Miles from Texas Border

Border Patrol agents operating in Brooks County (Falfurrias) rescued a pregnant woman and a man who were lost in the brush. In a separate incident, agents at the Falfurrias checkpoint rescued 36 undocumented aliens who were being smuggled in a refrigerated trailer. The discovery of the shivering immigrants was made after a Border Patrol K-9 alerted agents.

Border Patrol Catches Previously Deported Gang Member/Sex Offender in US

Border Patrol agents near the U.S.-Mexico border apprehended 39-year-old “Sureno” gang member Alejandro Sanchez after he illegally entered the U.S., only to discover that he was a previously deported violent felon who had served prison time as a sex offender. The arrest occurred in the early morning hours of March 1st at a border patrol checkpoint in Southern California.
