86 Guatemalans Arrested at Texas Border in Single Incident

As the surge of illegal aliens continues to mount in South Texas, Border Patrol agents in the Rio Grande Valley (RGV) Sector capped off a busy day by arresting one group of 86 illegal aliens and seizing more than $1 million worth of marijuana. Agents also carried out a rescue of an illegal alien lost in the brush and, unfortunately, recovered the remains of another migrant who was not as lucky. All of these incidents occurred in the RGV Sector on Monday.

ICE Arrests 650 Obama Era Border Crossers

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO) officers picked up 650 illegal aliens that came to the country as Unaccompanied Alien Children (UACs) and Family Unit Aliens (FMUA). Operation Border Guardian/Border Resolve is a response to the surge of families and UACs that illegally entered during the Obama administration.

Total Border Apprehensions Up for 5th Straight Month

Total apprehension of illegal aliens along our country’s southwestern border increased for the fifth consecutive month, U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials reported. It was the tenth month that reported increases over the previous month in the past year.

Border Surge: Obama Admin. Opening More Shelters for Unaccompanied Minors

The early months of Fiscal Year 2015 have experienced a dramatic increase in the number of unaccompanied minors apprehended at the border compared to the already high number detained in year’s past. The Obama administration will reportedly place as many as 1,000 minors in a warehouse at the Denver Federal Center, another 800 at a Homestead Job Corps site, and 400 at the Holloman Air Force Base in New Mexico.

New Mexico Air Base to House 400 Illegal Immigrant Children in January

In an attempt to prevent the chaos of the immigrant border surge that occurred in the summer of 2014, Department of Homeland Security officials are securing various locations to temporarily house Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC) and family units from Central America. As a result of that effort, U.S. Defense Secretary Ash Carter has directed Holloman Air Force Base in Alamogordo, New Mexico to house up to 400 children starting in January.

The surge of illegal aliens arriving in south Texas during the summer of 2014 stunned law enforcement agencies and social service providers across the Rio Grande Valley. The numbers haven’t been as high in 2015, but some organizations are noticing a spike in the numbers of illegal aliens from El Salvador walking through their doors in recent months.
