The new law also applies to crimes against judges. The signing of the law by Texas Governor Greg Abbott comes just weeks after the passage of the Thin Blue Line Act by the U.S. House.

The witness is the self-proclaimed mistress of Harris County Sheriff’s Deputy Darren Goforth who was shot execution style in Houston in late August when he was putting gas into his patrol car.
