Democrats in Congress have called for the end of the special House panel charged with investigating the allegations of the illegal buying and selling of aborted baby body parts, and, most recently, the practices of notorious late-term abortionist LeRoy Carhart, who has allegedly sent at least five of his abortion patients to the hospital from his Maryland clinic since December alone.
On Sunday, Planned Parenthood tweeted a link to an article at Fusion, titled “Life in a Magical Land Where Abortions and Birth Control Are Free and Plentiful,” a far cry from even pro-abortion President Bill Clinton’s exhortation at the Democrat National Convention in August of 1996 that abortion be “rare.”
Pro-life leaders and members of Congress are focused on statements from House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy indicating that a government shutdown over defunding Planned Parenthood is unlikely.
In a letter that asserts “patently false claims” are being waged against her abortion business to promote an “extreme political agenda,” Planned Parenthood president Cecile Richards says that her organization will stop accepting payments for the organs of unborn babies.
The author of the stand-alone Defund Planned Parenthood Act of 2015 that the House approved, Rep. Diane Black was persistent in her message that a government shutdown would not be an effective strategy to defund the nation’s largest abortion provider in the wake of videos exposing its practices of selling the harvested body parts of aborted babies.
In a statement issued last week, the Obama administration said the president will veto a bill that would protect babies born alive during abortion procedures because such a measure would have a “chilling effect,” reducing “access to care.”
A measure in the U.S. House of Representatives passed on Friday to temporarily suspend the availability of any funds to Planned Parenthood of America, Inc. or any of its affiliates, for one year during an investigation of the abortion provider. The moratorium of federal funding is entitled the Defund Planned Parenthood Act of 2015.
