
An East Texas firefighter who was fired from his fire department for making a Facebook comment that appeared to be praising South Carolina shooter Dylann Roof says that was not who his comment was referring to. Kurtis Cook says his post was taken out of the context of the discussion thread and he was praising someone else who had made donations to the victims.

A volunteer firefighter in Texas has been fired from his position with the department after commenting on a South Carolina newspaper article on accused mass-murderer Dylann Roof. The move came after the firefighter said Roof should be praised for his “good deed.”

The Shelby Star newspaper reports that Dylann Roof’s June 18 arrest took place after a Kings Mountain, South Carolina florist spotted the suspected gunman driving on U.S. 74 and called her boss, then followed Roof to keep police apprised of his whereabouts.
