AUSTIN, Texas — Texas Governor Greg Abbott announced that his office will provide two grants to meet needs incurred as a result of the federal government’s placing hundreds of Unaccompanied Alien Children (UAC) into temporary shelters in two Texas counties.

Approximately 800 or more unaccompanied children (UAC’s) from Central America will be transferred to North Texas in Ellis and Rockwall counties. The transfer is necessary because of the wave of children who are being housed on the border.

A Texas grand jury handed down eight indictments in the sausage sodomy case where five Texas volunteer firefighters allegedly sodomized a male firefighter with a chorizo sausage. A woman who allegedly filmed the sexual assault with her cell phone, and the chief and assistant chief accused of covering up the assault, have also been charged.
