Marco Rubio Slips in Latest Poll

It’s still early in the 2016 Republican presidential primary race, but things are not looking all that good for Sen. Marco Rubio. The most recent Mason-Dixon poll shows that Rubio has dropped 15 percentage points from former Governor Jeb Bush among Florida voters, in comparison to the previous Mason-Dixon poll that had Rubio and Bush virtually tied among the Republican electorate in the Sunshine State.

Bomb Scare at National Guard Armory in Tallahassee

The police department of Tallahassee, Florida responded to a bomb threat at the National Guard Armory on Tuesday morning. There is little public information, though there is a slight chance the threat is a hoax by someone seeking to take advantage of the apprehension over attacks on military personnel after the Chattanooga shootings.

That would be Charlie Crist, the former Florida Governor who used to be a Republican, then bailed on the party to run as an independent after Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) surged to a double-digit lead in the 2010 Senate primary. Crist’s name has become a shorthand insult whenever someone wishes to challenge a candidate’s conservative credentials, and when Rep. David Jolly (R-FL) jumped into the Florida Senate race on Monday, the Club for Growth had thrown the Crist name at him within a few hours.

López-Cantera, Florida’s first Hispanic Lieutenant Governor, previously served in the Florida House of Representatives from 2004 until term limited out in 2012. During his time in the Legislature, he was Majority Whip and then Majority Leader. In 2012, he was elected Property Appraiser of Miami-Dade County.

5-Year-Old Girl Killed by Jumping Sturgeon

In a terrible tragedy, a 5-year-old Florida girl died when a sturgeon struck her after jumping into her boat. Jaylon Rippy, 5, was riding in the boat on the Suwanee River with her mother and 9-year-old brother when she was hit; the sturgeon also hit her mother and brother, who were transported to a Gainesville hospital and will need facial surgery.
