Dateline NBC Provides Clue That Joyce Mitchell’s Dannemora Story Does Not Add Up

As the months go by, we’ll learn more about the big players in the Dannemora drama. For example, Dateline NBC steps up with accomplice Joyce Mitchell’s side of the story. This was the first time that the public has heard directly from one of the three main characters in the drama (escaped convicts David Sweat, Richard Matt, or confessed accomplice Mitchell) without having the filter of Governor Andrew Cuomo’s political operation and the intertwined New York State bureaucracy imposed upon the information.

Hero Cop Single-Handedly Took Down Escaped Convict

Cook, a 21-year law enforcement veteran, was on patrol by himself Sunday about 3 pm eastern about 5 miles north of the 22-square mile search area where as many as 1,000 fellow officers were looking for Sweat, when he spotted a man dressed in camouflage clothing jogging on Coveytown Road in the Town of Constable, just 2 miles north of the Village of Malone, New York.

Investigators work at the scene where two NYPD officers were shot, Saturday, Dec. 20, 2014 in the Bedford-Stuyvesant neighborhood of the Brooklyn borough of New York. Police said an armed man walked up to two officers sitting inside the patrol car and opened fire before running into a nearby subway station and committing suicide. Both police officers were killed.
