
Pro-life leaders are concerned that lawmakers aren’t serious about eliminating funding for Planned Parenthood. The worries come as a “panel” has been created to study Planned Parenthood’s activities, this one headed by Rep. Marsha Blackburn, also considered to be a potential candidate for House Speaker. According to The Hill, Blackburn said, “Our investigation has raised many more questions than we’ve been able to find answers. We need to have a national conversation about these practices. This is a discussion we cannot shy away from.”

Stating on numerous occasions that she was trying to be as cooperative as possible with the committee, Cecil Richards nevertheless evaded some questions about Planned Parenthood’s abortion business, often responding she “did not know” the answer to questions a CEO might be expected to know. At one point, as Live Action president Lila Rose tweeted, she was asked if babies who survive abortions should be given medical care, Richards replied, “I have never heard of such a circumstance happening.”

“Investigators are blaming two IRS workers at a computer center in West Virginia for erasing thousands of emails related to the tax agency’s tea party scandal, impeding congressional investigations into the treatment of conservative political groups,” reports the Associated Press. “The workers might be incompetent, a lead investigator said Thursday, but there is no evidence they were part of a criminal conspiracy to destroy evidence.”

One of the first things he did, news reports say, is remove portraits of previous chairmen from the walls of the committee hearing room. That includes the portrait of Rep.
