The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) styles itself as America’s largest Muslim civil rights advocacy group. Switzerland Bans Burqa, Women Face Fines Up to $10,000

The town of Ticino in Switzerland approved a referendum to ban burqas, after the Swiss parliament decided a ban would not “violate the country’s federal law.” Women could receive a fine up to £6,500 ($9,828.84) if caught wearing a burqa, which covers their entire body from head to foot.

Turkish Military Claims Not to Have Known Downed Jet Was Russian

President Recep Tayyip Erdogan defended Turkey’s defense of its airspace Tuesday evening after Ankara fighter jets shot down a Russian SU-24 warplane earlier in the day, with the Turkish leader claiming that the military was unable to identify the jet that was violating the country’s sovereignty.
