House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) expressed confidence at the new strategy to grant President Obama fast-track authority to negotiate trade deals like the controversial Trans-Pacific Partnership.

The statement came as Republican leadership move forward with a new strategy to pass legislation granting President Obama “fast track” authority to negotiate trade deals.

Tuesday at the White House press briefing, press secretary Josh Earnest revealed that President Barack Obama has not talked to House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi since last week when she handed him a resounding defeat on his Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP)

The vote on the rule is expected to take place Tuesday. Conservative groups have called on Republicans to vote against the rule as a way to further scuttle the Obamatrade effort. TPA would grant Obama “fast-track” authority to negotiate trade deals.

So, with all that said, 86 Republicans voted for a tax increase–and to violate Norquist’s pledge–when they voted for TAA last Friday. If they do it again on Tuesday, they’ll be violating it again–and of course if any other Republicans vote for TAA on Tuesday, if there is a vote, they’d be voting to violate Norquist’s pledge as well.

Friday, the House defeated TAA 126-302, in a striking rebuke to President Obama who had hours earlier met with the Democratic caucus to make the case for fast-track trade authority.

Approximately 40 House Republicans are on record against the deal, just a few short hours ahead of the vote. GOP leadership is getting steadily more desperate in its attempts to lobby members to support it at the 11th hour.

Freshman GOP congresswoman Rep. Mimi Walters (R-CA) has been on television pushing Obamatrade—appearing Monday on Morning Joe on MSNBC to do so—but her office admits publicly she hasn’t read the bill she wants to fast-track through Congress.

Two members of House GOP leadership—Majority Whip Steve Scalise and Rules Committee chairman Rep. Pete Sessions (R-TX)—refused to admit through spokespersons to Breitbart News whether they have read the text of the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP) Pacific Rim trade deal, but they still support granting President Barack Obama the Trade Promotion Authority (TPA) to fast track it.

The formal rescission of Cuba’s designation as a State Sponsor of Terrorism is yet another example of the Obama administration befriending enemies instead of reaffirming alliances, House Speaker John Boehner says.

Matt Drudge took to Twitter to deliver an ongoing tirade against Republicans’ eagerness to deliver a fast-track trade bill to President Obama’s desk. The bill’s details have not been made public — which hasn’t stopped Republicans from surrendering Congress’s power to make amendments to a president’s future trade deals.
