War on Cops: Cop Murdered in Louisiana Is 9th Police Death for State this Year

A police officer has been murdered in Sunset, Louisiana, after answering a domestic call. Officer Henry Nelson died Wednesday night after allegedly being shot by Harrison Lee Wiley Jr. Also dead is Shameka Johnson, one of two victims police say were stabbed by Wiley. At press time, the other victim—Wiley’s wife, Courtney Jolivette—was in the hospital.

States Enact ‘Plan B’ to Defund Planned Parenthood

In the wake of the U.S. Congress’ inaction on defunding Planned Parenthood prior to the congressional summer recess, states continue to take matters into their own hands in cutting financial assistance to the abortion giant. Jindal Announces Planned Parenthood Investigation, Halts Licenses for New Abortion Clinic

Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal announced Tuesday he is directing his state’s Department of Health and Hospitals to launch an investigation into Planned Parenthood. This comes on the heels of the release of an investigative video by pro-life group Center for Medical Progress depicting the abortion giant’s chief medical officer speaking about how to abort a baby intact to harvest its body parts for sale.

According to a press release containing some of Jindal’s prepared remarks, the Republican governor of Louisiana – which has been named as the most pro-life state in the nation – will blast the Republican Party “smart guys” for failing to adhere to a commitment to pro-life policies, portraying the pro-life base, instead, as a “distraction.”

States Resist Moving Ahead With Same-Sex Marriages Immediately

The Louisiana Clerks of Court Association advised clerks not to issue licenses for 25 days, during which time the Supreme Court could be petitioned for a rehearing. Same-sex marriages are also on hold in the state of Mississippi where Democrat attorney general Jim Hood said the Supreme Court’s decision would not go into effect in his state until the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals lifts a stay on its ruling from last year in which it struck down the state’s same-sex marriage ban.

Bobby Jindal on Common Core: From Supporter To Aggressive Opponent

Jindal has heard the complaints of many parents in his state and has said that as a parent himself he could see the difficulties his own son was having with Common Core math. Ultimately, he unveiled an aggressive plan to eliminate Common Core in Louisiana, one that exposed how the state board of education and department of education can attempt to work around government rules and the state legislature in order to meet its own goals.
