‘Death to the Dictator! Death to Rouhani!’: Thousands Protest the Government in Iran

Thousands of protesters have taken to the streets of Iran over the past few days, speaking out against both the “hardline” government of the ayatollahs and the supposedly “moderate” secular government of President Hassan Rouhani. “Death to the dictator!” and “Death to Rouhani” are chants heard in at least eight Iranian cities, and the movement appears to be spreading.

Abbas: We Will Seek Full UN Membership

Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas said that the Palestinians will seek full membership in the United Nations and join dozens of additional international organizations in response to the recent US policy changes on Jerusalem.

Turkish Foreign Minister on Jerusalem: ‘Some Countries Are Very Timid of the U.S.’

The government of Turkey is staking out a hardline position against President Donald Trump’s decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. On Monday, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan called the United States a “partner in bloodshed” with Israel, which he denounced as a “child-murderer state.” On Tuesday, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu needled Arab states for their “very weak responses” on Jerusalem.

Lebanese Foreign Minister Calls for Sanctions Against U.S. over Jerusalem

Speaking from a meeting of Arab League foreign ministers in Cairo on Saturday, Lebanese Foreign Minister Gebran Bassil called for “pre-emptive measures” against the U.S. decision to move its embassy in Israel to Jerusalem. He said this should begin with “diplomatic measures” and then proceed to “political, then economic and financial sanctions” against the United States.
