Texas Congressmen Secure $15B for Harvey Relief Funding

Members of the Texas Congressional Delegation burned the midnight oil with Governor Greg Abbott and leaders of the U.S. House of Representatives to secure nearly $15 billion in disaster relief funding for the state. The funds will be included in an emergency disaster bill that is expected to pass the House on Thursday afternoon.

Texas to Obama: Certify that Refugees Do ‘Not Pose a Security Threat’

The Texas Health and Human Services Commission put the Obama Administration on notice with regard to requirements that must be met before Syrian refugees are resettled in the Lone Star State. This includes the prerequisite that the U.S. Office of Refugee Resettlement certify that “each refugee does not pose a security threat” to people of Texas.
