Sanctuary Cities List Grows to Nearly 500, Notes Report

A new report shows sanctuary jurisdictions growing at an alarming rate. The Ohio Jobs and Justice Political Action Committee (OJJ) totaled nearly 500 sanctuary cities. The group has been tracking sanctuary cities for more than 10 years.

FLEISCHMAN: CA Senate Prez De León Pushes ‘Sanctuary State’ Bill

State Senate President Kevin De León, who recently made headlines by announcing that he has relatives in California who are here in violation of U.S. immigration laws, is pushing legislation to make California a “Sanctuary State” – i.e. prohibiting state law enforcement agencies in California from cooperating with federal immigration authorities.

Sanctuary State’s Deported Alien Suspected in Kidnapping, Murder

Pennsylvania police arrested a previously deported criminal alien from Connecticut suspected in the murder of his wife, assault of another woman, and kidnapping his daughter. The entire State of Connecticut has been certified by the Department of Justice (DOJ) as a sanctuary jurisdiction.

Immigration Officer Injured in Texas Sanctuary City

An “immigration officer” was reportedly injured during an attempted arrest. The incident follows a protest in Texas’ capital city over other detention arrests made by Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents. It also follows a contentious dispute between Travis County and the State of Texas over sanctuary city issues.

Dallas County Votes to ‘End Nonessential Collaborations’ with ICE

On the same day that the Texas State Senate voted to cut funds for sanctuary cities, the commissioners court of Dallas County passed the “Welcoming Communities” resolution. Officials have voted to “end nonessential collaborations” with U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s Immigration Enforcement (ICE) divison.
