Judge Dismisses Taxi Lawsuit Against Uber

A group of 13 Connecticut taxi and livery companies and the Taxicabs and Livery Council of Connecticut filed a lawsuit in May of last year against Uber and Lyft, claiming that they had created “illegal transportation services that violate federal and state laws and regulations,” and that the companies “deceive customers about the fares they must pay, the safety of the cars and drivers transporting them, the insurance coverage available, and the legality of their offered services.”

The alleged hacking followed several weeks of extremely negative press for Planned Parenthood in response to videos released by the Center for Medical Progress (CMP). Intriguingly, while PP’s website does not show any negative changes from the alleged hackers, it does display a message that many critics are challenging is a public relations stunt. Even if PP was legitimately targeted by hackers over the weekend, there are a number of indicators that at this point, their website issues have been deliberately triggered.

Uber Faces Doom as CA Judge Recommends Suspension

California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) Chief Administrative Law Judge Robert Mason recommended that ride-sharing service Uber be suspended from operating in California for 30 days and fined $7.3 million for wilfully violating its 2013 CPUC settlement by failing to provide data proving that Uber and its California drivers do not discriminate on the basis of ethnicity, neighborhood or medical disability in picking up passengers.

Uber France Executives Arrested After Taxi Union Trashes Uber Cars

Uber Europe GM Pierre-Dimitri Gore-Coty and Uber France CEO Thibaud Simphal were both taken into custody Monday in Paris according to AFP News. The police started an investigation of Uber in November 2014 and raided their Paris offices in March. But the arrests came after Paris police failed to intervene last week as French taxi union thugs trashed Uber cars and threatened passengers.
