An arrest has been made in connection to a series of vandalism incidents targeting the UC Berkeley College Republicans.

A Berkeley student was arrested on misdemeanor vandalism charges last Wednesday. He and a peer allegedly crushed and ripped apart a Trump sign on campus.

Naweed Tahmas, a member of Berkeley’s College Republican, says that the actions of some students on the left serve as motivation for him to push harder in his fight for freedom of expression at Berkeley.

“It’s just more motivation to keep going out there and working hard and being out there for the community. And encourage open discussion and open dialogue,” Tahmas said.

Prior to this latest incident, the Berkeley College Republicans posted a video to their Facebook page of another individual destroying a wooden, hand-painted club sign and then discarding it in a nearby trashcan.
