New Abbott Web Ad Features Five New 'Props'

The Abbott campaign is apparently relishing the opportunity to promote the Texas Attorney General’s  Latino outreach efforts with a new web ad today featuring what Democrat Lubbock City Councilman Victor Hernandez would call five “props.”

The glossy ad, “Greg Abbott’s Crisscrossing Texas,” features five Abbott campaign supporters registering their support for the candidate directly to the camera in both English and Spanish. The positive spot was released to YouTube a day after Lubbock Councilman Hernandez denied labeling General Abbott’s wife of 32 years, Cecilia as a prop to impress Latino voters. Lubbock Mayor Glen Robertson later apologized on behalf of the City and its citizens.

Councilman Hernandez recently survived a recall effort in 2013 organized by former Lubbock County Commissioner Ysidro Guitierrez. The attempt originated out of a public feud between Hernandez and City Manager Lee Ann Dumbauld over allegations of official misconduct. A list of recall signatures remains posted to the City of Lubbock website.
