Louie Gohmert: Obama's Immigration Rhetoric is 'Drawing Kids to Their Detriment'

Federal facilities along the U.S.-Mexico border are overwhelmed due to a sharp spike in illegal immigration.  As a result, U.S. Border Patrol has been releasing thousands of illegal immigrants onto U.S. soil each week. Some released immigrants are even criminals–as Breitbart Texas previously reported, more than 36,000 convicted criminal illegal alienswere released by U.S. authorities in 2013 alone.

Texas Congressman Louie Gohmert told Breitbart Texas that the Obama Administration has no plan to deal with the new flood of illegal immigrants.

“I heard someone from the Administration saying earlier this week that they don’t have an explanation as to why there are so many more children trying to get into the U.S.,” Gohmert said. “That just shows how out of touch and ignorant they are. Every time someone talks about legal status and amnesty, it causes a rush on the border and it creates the situation that Breitbart has been reporting on where all these kids come  here unaccompanied, because they know they’re going to get amnesty at some point.”

Earlier this week, Breitbart Texas Managing Director Brandon Darby released leaked photos of children in U.S. processing cells who entered the U.S. illegally and unaccompanied. The photos encapsulate what has been called a “humanitarian crisis.”

The Obama Administration’s rhetoric regarding perceived amnesty “subjects kids to sexual trafficking,” Gohmert said. “We just need to stop talking about anything except securing our border. Then once our border is secure we can pass an immigration bill.”

But until the Administration’s talking points change, the wave of illegal immigration is not likely to slow.

Gohmert concluded, “Because all this talk about amnesty for kids, as Breitbart has been reporting, it is simply getting worse and worse at our border. It is immoral and outrageous that we would be drawing kids to their detriment.”
