Texas Ebola Patient Has Died

HOUSTON, Texas — On Wednesday Thomas Eric Duncan, the Ebola patient diagnosed in Dallas, passed away as a result of the virus.

Shortly after Duncan’s death the Texas Department of State Health Services released a statement commending Texas Presbyterian Hospital, where the patient was treated, for providing the patient with excellent care.

Commissioner David Lakey said,”The doctors, nurses and staff at Presbyterian provided excellent and compassionate care, but Ebola is a disease that attacks the body in many ways. We’ll continue every effort to contain the spread of the virus and protect people from this threat.”

Breitbart Texas additionally obtained a statement from the hospital that addressed Duncan’s death.

“It is with profound sadness and heartfelt disappointment that we must inform you of the death of Thomas Eric Duncan this morning at 7:51 am,” Public Relations Director Wendell Watson said. “Mr. Duncan succumbed to an insidious disease, Ebola. He fought courageously in this battle. Our professionals, the doctors and nurses in the unit, as well as the entire Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Dallas community, are also grieving his passing. We have offered the family our support and condolences at this difficult time.”

Duncan flew to the U.S. from Liberia just days before being diagnosed with Ebola. His diagnosis has raised concerns about flights entering the country from West Africa, which remains heavily afflicted by the deadly virus.
