Texas Teen Stands Trial for Eye-Gouging Satanic Murder

HOUSTON, Texas — A Houston teenager, Jose E. Reyes, standstrial in Houston for the satanic mutilation rape and murder of afifteen-year-old girl. Corriann Cervantes, aged 15, was allegedly murdered andraped during a satanic ritual that involved gouging out her eyes and carving anupside-down crucifix on her stomach before killing her. She was also allegedlysexually assaulted during the tortuous attack.

Breitbart News reportedabout the murder when it occurred in February of this year. That article statedthat Reyes, then 17, and a 16-year-old boy, Victor Alas, were arrested andcharged with capital murder. Reyes confessed to the crimes and told HarrisCounty Assistant District Attorney John Jordan they doing this to sell the16-year-old’s soul to the devil. Reyes said he had previously sold his soul andthe younger boy asked if he could do it as well according to Jordan. Both boysare standing trial as adults.

During the opening of the trial this week in Houston, Jordancontinued the devil theme and said the two boys disfigured the girl’s body bycarving an upside down crucifix on her stomach accordingto the Houston Chronicle. Jordantold the jurors the two boys took the girl to an apartment after a night of alcoholand marijuana.

“Whether or not the devil was involved, what happenedin that apartment was sadistic and inhumane,” Jordan told jurors. “Hesaid he had no regrets.”

He said the scene degraded from consensual sex to the brutalbeating of the girl with the porcelain lid of a toilet tank. The girl’s bodywas found with pieces of porcelain in her face. Jordan explained the boys useda screwdriver to repeatedly stab the victim in the face and torso more than adozen times. They then used a plastic rod used to operate mini-blinds to gougeher eyes out.

Defense attorney Bob Loper told the jurors, “This was ahorrible murder of a young girl and we’re not going to shy away from that. You’vegot to ferret out for yourselves exactly what happened and who is responsiblefor which parts.” The Alas is scheduled for trial at a later date.

During the adult certification phase of the trial, Reyestold police, “Why are you doing this to me?” as she tried to run away.

Cervantes had been friends with the two boys since middleschool. They attended Clear Lake High School and Clear Lake Alternative Pathtogether.

Reyes will face an automatic sentence of life in prison ifconvicted of capital murder. However, because he was 17 at the time of theoffense he will be eligible for parole after serving forty years. If the juryfinds Reyes guilt of the lesser charge of murder, the jury would determine thesentence. If they sentence him to life in prison under that charge, he would beeligible for parole after 30 years.

During the trial, which is expected to last one week, Alas’attorney Mario Madrid, will be on hand to watch and learn according to the Chronicle. “It gives us anopportunity to see the (prosecutors’) hand,” Madrid said. “My clientmaintains his innocence, and we intend on trying the case when it’s time.”

The trial is being conducted in the 338thCriminal District Court. The court is presided over by Judge Brock Thomas.
