Federal agents seized two bottles with more than 8 pounds of liquid methamphetamine hidden inside liquor bottles. The drugs were seized from two men trying to get to Oklahoma from the border city of Laredo, Texas.

The seizure came after agents with U.S. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) were tipped off about a man named Erick Esquivel who would allegedly be crossing from the Mexican city of Nuevo Laredo into the U.S. with liquid meth, court records obtained by Breitbart Texas show.

The agents set up a surveillance operation at a local shop where they allegedly saw Esquivel get out of a taxi cab and give the bottles to another man before the two men drove north from Laredo. When the two men got to a U.S. Border Patrol checkpoint, agents sent the two men to a secondary inspection.

During questioning by HSI agents, Esquivel said that the other man had sent him to Mexico to an auto body shop to pick up the bottles and smuggle them into the United States. The other man, on the other hand. told the agents that he had no clue about the bottles and was just giving his friend a ride.
