Mexican Soldiers Kill Three Cartel Gunmen In Fierce Firefight Near Texas Border

The Mexican military killed three gunmen as they fought off a fierce attack just south of the Texas border despite Mexican officials claiming that the security conditions in their country continue to improve.

The early morning shootout took place earlier this week near the border city of Rio Bravo along the highway that connects that city with Reynosa, information released by the Tamaulipas government revealed.

The shootout started when a patrol of Mexican soldiers were carrying out a routine patrol and spotted a cartel convoy. When the soldiers tried to intercept them, the gunmen began to shoot at the soldiers starting a fierce firefight.

The soldiers were able to kill three gunmen who had been riding in a Nissan Armada. The others managed to flee. After the firefight the soldiers seized multiple weapons and loaded ammunition magazines.
