TX Gov Greg Abbott Floats Tim Tebow to Cowboys

The governor of Texas publicly expressed support for the idea of the Dallas Cowboys picking up Tim Tebow.

After a monumental comeback victory in their opening game against the Giants and a 20-10 win against the Eagles on Sunday, one might think from the standings that the Dallas Cowboys overflow in optimism. Starting quarterback Tony Romo left Sunday’s game with a fractured left clavicle that could easily sideline him for half the season or more depending on the severity of the break. This followed the team losing star receiver Dez Bryant. Fox Sports reported Romo fears that the same part of his collarbone that broke in 2010.

Back up quarterback Brandon Weeden successfully widened the lead during his stint taking snaps. He connected on 7-of-7 passes for 73 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions. Yet, the Cowboys may not have total confidence in him. Weeden, a 2012 first round draft pick for the Cleveland Browns, came into Sunday’s game with a career 26 touchdown passes, 28 interceptions and a dismal passer rating of 72.5.

Taking those numbers into consideration, according to Fox, speculation surfaced that Tim Tebow may get a phone call. Texas Governor Greg Abbott expressed he’s “all in” on Tebow:

The 2007 Heisman Trophy winner from the University of Florida spent time with the Broncos, Jets, Patriots and recently the Eagles, who cut him after he demonstrated some improved passing skills during preseason play.

Most likely owner Jerry Jones won’t make any decisions until they get a look next week at Weedon against the Atlanta Falcons. And for decisions Tim Tebow does not make, Tim Tebow, as he expressed when Breitbart Sports caught up with him in the locker room after his final preseason performance, does not worry about. “I’ve said this a lot of times, but I don’t worry about things I can’t control,” Tebow explained. “It’s a blessing to be able to come out here and play the game I love.”

Right now, Tim Tebow merely comments on the game he loves as an SEC analyst.
