Oklahoma Man Beheaded Grandmother, Her Husband, Say Police

Oklahoma City police are investigating the double beheading murder of a grandmother and her husband and say her grandson is the killer. This is the third beheading related crime in Oklahoma in the past two years.

The decapitated bodies of Sharon Reed, 59, and her husband James Earl Reed were found by Oklahoma City police in their home on Tuesday. The couple lived in the home with their accused killer, Quinton Dashawn Laster, 20, police Sergeant Ashley Peters told The Oklahoman. The couple also operated a day care in the home.

The children who stay in the couple’s in-home day care center were found unharmed. Peters said the children did not witness the killings.

Laster is accused of shooting and decapitating the couple. He was arrested on Tuesday and is being held in the Oklahoma County jail. Online jail records obtained by Breitbart Texas reveal that no bond has been set for Laster. He faces two counts of murder in the first degree.

No motive for the slayings has been released at this time. Sgt. Peters told reporters that they have had previous encounters with the suspect. Laster was arrested one year ago on juvenile charges of misdemeanor assault and battery. No further details were provided. “He has a history with us, but it’s not extensive,” Peters told the reporters.

In September 2014, Alton Nolan is alleged to have entered his former place of employment, Vaughan Food Processing, and beheaded the receptionist, 54-year-old receptionist, Breitbart Texas reported. He was about to do the same thing to another woman when the company owner shot him with a gun he had stored in his car, Breitbart’s AWR Hawkins reported.

Also in September 2014, an Oklahoma City nursing home worker was arrested after he allegedly threatened to cut off a co-worker’s head, Breitbart’s Debra Heine reported. This incident happened around the same time as the Nolan attack on his co-worker.

Police were called to the Reed’s home after neighbors became concerned. One of the neighbors is reported to have spoken with Laster and he then called 911. It is not known what words were exchanged between the caller and the suspect.
