U.S. Senate Shifting Focus From Gun Control to Obama’s ‘De-emphasis’ of Islamic Terror

The Obama Administration and Congress have focused its attention on unconstitutional gun control measures since the Orlando terrorist attack. The U.S. Senate will hold an investigative hearing on Tuesday to examine the cover-up of Islamic terror and the risk this poses to Americans.

Texas Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) will head a hearing to “investigat[e] the willful blindness on the part of the relevant law enforcement agencies to domestic Islamic terror networks.” Cruz is chairman of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Oversight, Agency Action, Federal Rights and Federal Courts.

The hearing is titled “Willful Blindness: Consequences of Agency Efforts to Deemphasize Radical Islam in Combating Terrorism.”

According to a statement obtained by Breitbart Texas from the senator, “The hearing will examine the Obama administration’s refusal to attribute the terrorist threats we face with radical Islam, hobbling our ability to combat the enemy.”

The Texas senator says the hearing will focus on who in the federal government has conspired to thwart any investigation into Muslim Brotherhood officials’ impact on the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and their investigation of terrorism.

Instead of investigating the threats of Islamic terror to Americans, Democrats and the President have used the Orlando Islamic terrorist attack to push their unconstitutional gun control agenda. The administration has also actively tried to hide any references to the Islamic State made by the Muslim Orlando terrorist Omar Mateen.

U.S. Attorney General Loretta Lynch has faced heated public scrutiny after the Obama Administration decided to remove references to the Islamic State from the 9-1-1 call transcript. Federal officials claim that an “unedited” transcript has been released but the transcript has replaced the word “Allah” with “God.”

As reported by Breitbart News’ Charlie Spiering, President Obama stood at the memorial for the victims of the Orlando Islamic terrorist attack and essentially blamed Republicans charging that they have blocked gun control laws. Obama has attempted to shift the focus from the Orlando shooter’s connection and stated allegiance to the Islamic State, to gun control. The President has called both the San Bernardino and Orlando Islamic terrorists “homegrown” and “lone wolf” attackers, and as Spiering noted, compared them to other mass shooters in America.

Democrats in the U.S. House staged a “sit-in” last week in an attempt to dramatize and further their gun control objectives. As reported by Breitbart News, Texas Senator Louis Gohmert (R-TX) intruded into the staged drama to angrily shout, “Radical Islam killed these people!”

In February, the House Judiciary Committee approved legislation calling on the State Department to designate the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist organization. H.R. 3892, titled the Muslim Brotherhood Terrorist Designation Act of 2015, would bar foreigners with ties to the Muslim Brotherhood from entering the country. Those in the U.S. would be subject to federal prosecution and asset confiscation.

Republican Senators Ted Cruz and Mario Diaz-Balart (R-FL) announced in November 2015 that they were introducing a bill to protect Americans against the “violent jihad” committed by the Muslim Brotherhood and to designate it as a terrorist organization. The bill quotes the Muslim Brotherhood’s motto – “Allah is our objective. The Prophet is our leader. The Koran is our law. Jihad is our way. Dying in the way of Allah is our highest hope. Allahu Akhbar!”

Breitbart News reported on June 10 that there are almost 80 senators and representatives who support the Muslim Brotherhood Terrorist Designation Act. The measure has been stalled.
