A foreign national is potentially facing deportation out of the U.S. after allegedly killing a man and leaving his body on a walking trail.

Jose Humberto Lara-Pineda, 18, of El Salvador, is accused of murdering 28-year-old Fredys Odilo Del Cid Ramos by strangling him, according to WNCN News.

Ramos’ body was found near a wooded walking trail by cyclists. The victim’s family said they did not know what he was doing in the area and did not know of any prior connections with Lara-Pineda.

Lara-Pineda could be deported by the Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency in the near future.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) said in documents obtained by WNCN that Lara-Pineda either “lacks immigration status or notwithstanding such status is removable.”

ICE has asked that local authorities hold Lara-Pineda until he can be properly transferred.
