Three Latin Kings gang members were sentenced for the kidnapping and the vicious assault of a rival gang member last year.
The attack by the Latin Kings was on a member of the Bloods street gang who entered a home to collect items that belonged to his girlfriend in March 2016, the Long Island Herald reported.
Nassau County District Attorney Madeline Singas said that the attack by the Latin Kings on the Blood was vicious.
“This victim was savagely stabbed, pistol-whipped, beaten and kidnapped, and then left for dead outside a hospital,” Singas said. “This was a horrifically brutal attack and I thank our prosecutors and the police for bringing these defendants to justice.”
On March 14, 2016, the Bloods member climbed through the window of the house where his girlfriend reportedly used to live and stated that he was there just to gather her possessions.
Latin King members Jesus Maldonado, 23, Jonathan Faneytt, 22, and Jorge Freire-Romero, 20, were all inside the home when the Blood came through the window. They immediately grabbed him and began to assault him.
The man was handcuffed, placed in a bathtub, and stabbed multiple times with a steak knife. The three Latin King members transported him to a hospital where they left him to die. As the three men fled the scene, the Bloods gang member was able to make it inside the hospital where his clothes came off, and blood proceeded to pour out of his stab wounds. He suffered 11 total stab wounds, a collapsed lung, and a punctured liver.
After interviewing the Bloods gang member, Nassau County Police arrested all three defendants.
Jesus Maldonado and Jonathan Faneytt both pled guilty to kidnapping and were sentenced on Wednesday to five years in prison. Jorge Freire-Romero pled guilty to assault and received a seven-year prison sentence.
