China’s promise that the 2008 Olympics would be the Games for the people has fallen flat. In Sydney and Athens, the Olympic park was open to all, including those without tickets to sporting events. In Beijing, visitors have to pay an entrance ticket, so the luscious area, known as Green Park, is largely devoid of people.
