Reuters: Consumer confidence in Britain is at historically low levels as falling house prices and market turmoil take their toll. Gfk Director of Financial Insight, Andy Thwaites, says that consumer confidence started falling rapidly in September, when the British government was forced to national Northern Rock, the first UK victim of the credit crisis, after a run on the bank.
