The United States says it will send up to 30,000 new troops to Afghanistan. The troops will be sent to the country by next summer, said the chairman of the U.S Joint Chiefs of Staff. These troops are in addition to the 3,000 troops that Washington are sending in January. In 2001, U.S led forces toppled the Taliban government after the September 11th attacks.
