The party of Pakistan’s opposition leader and former prime minister says he has been detained ahead of an anti-government rally. Nawaz Sharif and other members of his party have been detained hours before he was due to address the protest rally in support of a campaign for the reinstatement of former Supreme Court chief justice Iftikhar Chaudhry who was sacked nearly two years ago by Pervez Musharraf.
