Three Miss Americas Travel to Iraq in Support of Operation Iraqi Children

Susan Perkins Botsford, Miss America 1978, Sharlene Wells Hawkes, Miss America 1985 and Susan Powell, Miss America 1981, just returned from Baghdad where they had the opportunity to meet thousands of U.S. and coalition troupes. They visited wounded forces at Landstuhl Hospital on Ramstein Air Force Base in Germany. As part of Operation Iraqi Children, they were able to distribute school supplies to children in Iraq, which filled the luggage compartment of the American Airlines chartered jet they traveled on.
