Sandboarding Down South Africa's Gold Mine 'Dumps'

Mineral deposit mine dumps in South Africa have been around since the start of the country’s Gold Rush in the 1880s — but have only recently become the site of a new sport, sandboarding. It’s given urbanites in inland Johannesburg the opportunity to experience some sun and sand, and makes use of what was long considered a local eyesore.
