The Hill: President Barack Obama could have convinced senators to vote to create a commission to handle the long term debt had he wanted to, a top Republican argued Tuesday.
Sen. Lamar Alexander (R-TN) (R-Tenn.), the chairman of the Senate Republican Conference, accused the president of a “halfhearted” effort to find votes for the fiscal commission, which fell seven votes short of the 60-vote threshold needed to end debate.
