This was President Obama’s posturing attempt to act bipartisan and conciliatory at last year’s State of the Union address. Of course, just weeks after this the President worked with Speaker of the House Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) to ram his health care legislation through the house without any contribution from Republicans.
Needless to say, President Obama never scheduled the meetings he made such a big deal about in his address.
