#OccupyToledo Protesters Charged With Assault On Police Officers

Two Occupy Toledo protestors were arrested Tuesday after a scuffle with police outside City Council chambers. Meghan Link and her boyfriend, community activist Rick VanLandingham, insisted on bringing signs into the City Council meeting. When they were told no signs were permitted, they tried charging the door. The protesters had been denied access to the meeting because they were carrying a large sign with the First Amendment written on it. The guard told them it’s a council rule that no signs are permitted inside. Officers stopped them, but the pair fought back. Meghan broke down crying in the courtroom pleading that she didn’t assault any officers.
