Funeral services for 2 Newtown, Conn. children

NECN:  Connecticut, and the entire nation, is bracing for the first funerals for victims of the school shooting last week that left 20 children and six adults dead.

On Monday morning, classes were expected to resume at a school about 15 minutes away.

On Sunday, the state’s governor said it could happen on Wednesday, though a firm date has not been set.
There is a possibility classes may never resume in the Sandy Hook school because of what happened there.

Monday’s funerals come a day after the president pledged to seek change in memory of the victims.

The gunman, Adam Lanza, was carrying hundreds of rounds of ammunition, enough to kill just about every student in the school if he had enough time.

His motive, so far, remains unclear.

President Obama is vowing to use “whatever power this office holds” to safeguard the nation’s children.

The president’s speech has raised the prospect that he will pursue gun policy changes.

California Senator Dianne Feinstein says she has legislation ready to start that discussion in the senate and that there is similar legislation in the U.S. House.
