Dolphin Trapped in Brooklyn Toxic Waters

Daily News: An injured dolphin was discovered in the Gowanus Canal today near Nevins and Union Street in Brooklyn, New York on January 25, 2013.An injured dolphin was trapped Friday in the toxic waters of Brooklyn’s polluted Gowanus Canal and rescuers could only watch from the shoreline as the animal struggled to survive.

There appeared to be blood on its dorsal fin, but biologists didn’t dare go near the dolphin for fear of sinking into the poisonous muck.
